I love making crafts with my kids! I like to find something inspiring and useful when I create crafts with my kiddos. My youngest daughter Gracie does have some issues with fine motor skills, due to her lymphedema in her hands, and so working with these types of crafts really help strengthen her abilities in this area. I found these 10 crafts to be functional and fun! Check them out below!
1.) A Beaded Snowflake Craft for Kids: Math & Fine Motor Activity – from Early Learning Ideas
My little Gracie has a hard time with her fine motor skills so I do try to help her in this area to strengthen this skill through making art. Even with her lymphedema in her hands, she is able to pick up tiny beads and put them on pipe cleaners. So this project is a great fit for her! It is challenging her fine motor skills.
This one is a cute project to do with your kids when it is too cold outside to make a snowman!
5.) Playdough Snowman – from Early Learning Ideas
Make a playdough snowman inside when it’s too cold to go outside! So many cute additions to this project like beads, buttons, glitter, ribbon, or even paint your snowman once it dries!
6.) Snowman handprint – from Learning and Exploring Through Play
This one is a fun project from making the handprints, to decorating with the details! Plus when the paint is wet, add some glitter! A fun addition! I love to seal these types of projects with modpodge to create a shine to the project.
7.) Quilled Paper Tube Snowflake Craft – from Arty Crafty Kids
This is a fun 3D project to try! This is especially good for working on fine motor skills and learning how to construct pieces together to make a snowflake. I just love the shiny blue background she uses!
8.) Button Snowflake – from Kids Craft Room
These are wonderful for displaying all over the house! You could frame them or hang them from the ceiling! Simple and easy to create! Fun for all ages!
9.) Birch Tree – from How We Learn
I love working with different layers to create art. This one is a great wintery scene of birch trees. Kids will learn how to use tape to make trees and they get to take the tape off later to reveal what their trees look like! A fun project for all ages! This will also work using watercolor paint instead of acrylic paint. If you decide to use watercolor, add some salt for some texture while you paint!
10.) Ice Sculptures – from The Artful Parent
Take advantage of the cold weather and make some ice sculptures! A great memory to have with your kids building a structure like a city! Don’t forget to take pictures of your finished product!
There you have it! 10 cool winter projects to try with your little ones! I am passionate about art and love to incorporate art into our daily lives! It is a therapy my girls sure do enjoy!
